As the divisions gained momentum and the people lived within their immaturity of the flesh, they were experiencing the result which was a breakdown in humility. Instead, they were experiencing an attitude of arrogance where they lived in judgement toward one another, questioning motives and even doubting the calling of people in leadership. Paul knew the importance of unity in everything, so he directly addresses the need for us to all be humble. Paul loved the people in this church so much that he refuses to pretend that these things were not happening and instead faces them head on.
