This week on Wellbeing, we talk with Laureate Professor Clare Collins from the University of Newcastle about diet and nutrition. Professor Collins has made major contributions to our knowledge on the impact of improving diet quality and food patterns on health and wellbeing. She has been awarded over $29 million in research grants and published over 450 manuscripts during her time as an experienced researcher. Along with her team, Professor Collins has developed innovative technology tools for diet assessment, including the Australian Eating Survey, the Healthy Eating Quiz, and the online program No Money No Time. She is a highly sort after media commentator on nutrition, having conducted thousands of media interviews for radio, print and TV. In this episode, Professor Collins talks about Australia's national nutrition, what makes a food nutritious, the links between cancer and alcohol, how poor nutrition impacts mental health and how we can all improve our diets.
“Many people are not aware that alcohol is directly related to over a dozen cancers.” – Prof. Collins on this episode of Wellbeing.
