John started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in January of 1999 and received his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in October 2006  

He is currently a 3rd degree BJJ Black Belt,  and at 59 years old  holds an impressive competition record 

2000 - Gold Medal IBJJF Pan AM Championships as a Blue Belt.
2018 - Gold Medal IBJJF Pan AM Championships Black Belt, Master 5.
2018 - Silver Medal IBJJF No Gi World Championships Black Belt, Master 5.
2019 - Silver Medal IBJJF World Championships Black Belt, Master 5.
2019 - Gold Medal IBJJF Boston Open, Black Belt, Master 5.
2019 - Gold Medal IBJJF Pan AM Championships Black Belt, Master 6.
2019 - Gold Medal IBJJF No Gi European Championships Master 6.
2019 - Gold Medal IBJJF No Gi World Championships Master 6.
