3671 Carol Peterson (PG) (Sexual Abuse, Addiction, Discipleship) As a child, Carol was constantly moving. Her mom leapt from one marriage to another creating a vacuum in which Carol was unprotected from the repeated sexual abuse of her brother. She also endured physical beatings at the hands of her mother, putting her on a path toward hopelessness and shame. Not knowing where to look for love, she married an alcoholic and they spent 15 years drinking and doing drugs together. One day she decided she wanted to change and joined a faith-based recovery program. When she kept hearing the mention of God, she decided to give Him a try. That experiment changed her life, and she surrendered her heart to Jesus. This began the restoration of her marriage, and the healing of her heart from the sexual abuse she tried to bury.
