I don’t really write code anymore.
That feels strange to admit after nearly 20 years of building software at Microsoft and Docusign. But it's the truth. These days, I plan things out with AI, and it handles the implementation. We even have agents reviewing other agents' code and fixing bugs while I sleep.
It’s incredible to watch, but it also means I've automated away the parts of the job I used to love the most - like falling down a rabbit hole to debug a tricky issue.
It got me thinking: if agents are doing the heavy lifting, do we still need to understand every single line of code? Or is the job of a software engineer just moving up a level?
I wrote down some thoughts on this shift, what we're gaining, and what we might be letting go of.

How a financial-services firm runs 250,000 automated tests a day on 4 Amazon EKS clusters with Kueue quotas, sharding, flake policy, and certification.

A centralized test platform on Kubernetes runs about 250,000 automated tests a day across four EKS clusters. Kueue quotas and priority classes keep any one team from starving the others. Indexed Jobs split large suites into shards. Flaky tests are handled as platform policy, with a single retry and a quarantine that has an owner. The reporting layer turns raw results into release certification, and it matters as much as the scheduler.

A #1 Google ranking does not guarantee that customers will see your website first. Ads, AI Overviews, maps, and other SERP features can push organic results below the fold, while search layouts vary by market and query. This guide explains how to combine ranking data with pixel position and page structure, using 2extract residential proxies and Playwright to inspect localized results. A small cross-market test shows why marketers should measure what users actually see, not just where a link ranks.

I'm 13 and I'm a student living in Hanoi. Seven weeks ago, I thought: "should I create a hackathon?". Today, that same idea has turned into a free, online hackathon for ages 13-18 with around 50 registrants from 15 countries, with over $10,000 worth of prizes and four judges. Here's what worked in my process, what failed, and what it takes to run such an event for people my own age.

A one-line Vitest rule bans hand-typed prices in MDX; components and build-time SVG charts pull every number from one function.

I run a concrete cost calculator whose data refreshes monthly, so any price typed into an article goes stale. My rule: no dollar sign followed by a digit anywhere in prose. A Vitest test enforces it, MDX components put computed numbers inside sentences, and one pure function feeds the table, a zero-JS SVG chart and its alt text. Tests also pin the direction of each claim the prose makes.

EXANTE CTO Richard Forss reflects on the dot-com crash, past AI hype cycles, and the real impact of modern coding assistants. Drawing parallels with radiology and DeepMind’s protein-folding breakthrough, he argues that AI can make technical work faster without eliminating the need for human expertise. The deeper lesson is that software engineers were never hired simply to write code. Their job is to solve problems, and AI gives them more opportunities to do so.
