In this lesson, I will introduce how to make progressive form  by using te-forms of verb together with the helping verb "いる".

Not only for action in progress but also, it can be used for what a person does by occupation or by habit.

The helping verb "いる" is changed into:

-います for present affirmative

-いません for present negative

-いました for past affirmative

-いませんでした for past negative
