In the business world I’ve been learning about the importance of certainty when it comes to communication and sales. And this week I’ve experienced proof of that in the natural that gave me eyes to see in the spiritual how this bleeds into sin, victory over sin, our walk with Jesus and communicating it to our children as we disciple them in the word of God and how to walk with Jesus.

If I’m being honest, I want a comfortable Christian experience where all my prayers are answered and I have certainty, safety, health, wealth, happiness, easy street, blessed children that are all safe and comfortable with me. But that not exactly a biblical Christian experience but a worldly influenced Christian experience.

God is stirring deeply in my soul. Convicting me of sin, exposing things I didn’t know were there, walking so closely with me that if my eyes were spiritually open I know I’d see the face of Jesus next to me. As I was reading in Luke today, and listening to Pastor Chuck (he’s with the Lord now but I listen to his old teachings daily. Highly recommend) and reading the passages he was highlighting, my heart is heavy realizing, just as the Word says, that many who claim the name of Jesus, are walking in blindness and won’t hear “well done, good and faithful servant” but instead hear, “I never knew you”. We always assume we’re the exception to sin, to forgiving others, to our hearts and to our walk with Jesus, as if we can get away with things that Jesus clearly speaks against. But we will all stand before Jesus face to face.

Every time I’ve tried to share this specific message, something goes wrong and either the audio doesn’t record or it gets deleted. So I’m believing that the enemy doesn’t want this getting to other mothers. So let’s talk all the more!

God has been doing SO MUCH since my husband and I started our prayer challenge last March. One of my prayers for my children has been that they would have such a deep anchor in Jesus that nothing shakes them away. God began answering that prayer but in ways that, honestly, left me very confused. I couldn’t see what God was actually doing until last night at our dinner table conversations.

I can’t hear God when I’m listening to everyone else.

If I’m feeling stuck, discouraged, overwhelmed, anxious or defeated, 10 out of 10 times it’s because I’m listening to everyone else. When I get alone with the Lord, peace returns, clarity, calming, vision and gratitude are what overflows from His presence. It’s just His nature and the results of being in the room with Him.

“From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” - Psalm 61:2

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” -Isaiah 26:3

I’ve struggled with some health things for over two decades that daily impact my body and make me feel sick. I’ve prayed for healing for years. I’ve seen all the doctors and specialists and natural people out there. I’ve tried all the things except surgery which I definitely don’t want to do.

But when I read the bible, I see all these incredible stories of miraculous healings. Impossible things made possible by the Jesus I love so much.

I was reading today about the woman who had the discharge of blood for 12 years and had spent everything she had on the doctors who couldn’t help. She was desperate and did a desperate thing. She went to find JESUS to touch His garment and her faith made her well.

So I did something that felt uncomfortable and made me nervous this morning. But let’s chat what happened next…

This topic can be so hard to talk about depending on your world view, what you believe about beauty, how you’ve been shaped by it in your life and especially how you’ve been hurt by it. The standards by the world are pretty high and a bit excessive and honestly will always leave you empty, even if you achieve the standard you thought you needed to get to. There are extremes both ways. Both can become idolatry. To boycott “beauty” is not the answer. To subject yourself to the world’s opinions of “beauty” is also not the answer. So let’s chat…
