In October of 2022, Kerala-based fusion rock band 'Thaikkudam Bridge' took legal action against the writers of the hit film 'Kantara' for alleged copyright infringement in their song 'Varaha Roopam'. Claiming that it sounded similar to their own track - 'Navarasam' - which debuted in 2017, the band sought credit for the use of their composition without their permission.

The ensuing legal case raised an interesting debate about the difference between plagiarising music and "taking inspiration".
