Project Magnum gameplay looks incredible, but it will face what I call the "looter shooter dilemma". While the Project Magnum release date is still unknown, a recent gameplay reveal showed very promising combat and visuals. Many are comparing the game to Final Fantasy and Destiny, but I see similarities to Outriders as well.

Looter shooters continue to rise and fall, with most of them doing more than falling and outright failing. I want to discuss the potential for a game like Project Magnum while also examining the looter shooter challenges and graveyard of failed games this one will have to walk through. Comparison is one of the leading causes of many games struggling to get out of the gate, and this game is no different.
