Listen Later

Alexander the Great's Empire hangs together by a thread. His only heir is his unborn son; already his generals have begun to carve up the Empire for themselves. This is the stage for the wars of theDiadochi,to settle who would be the true successor to Alexander's greatness.

Into this world, a relative of Alexander named Pyrrhus was born. While his role in the wars of the Diadochi would only be peripheral, he serves as a bridge between the Hellenic World and the Rise of Rome.

In 280 BC, Pyrrhus brought an army from Greece over to Italy to put an end to the barbarian Romans for good. As you may have guessed from the future 600+ years of Roman history, he wasn't quite successful.
