  • Thank God It's Monday | God's Original Plan | Brent Parsley

Part 1 of Thank God It's Monday

Does God Care About Your Job?

You probably spend more time working than doing almost anything else. But have you ever stopped to ask why?

For some of us, work is exhausting. For others, it's where we find our identity. And for many, it's just what we do to pay the bills.

But what if God designed work to be so much more?

In this episode, we begin our new series, Thank God It's Monday, by exploring God's original plan for work. From the opening chapters of Genesis to the teaching of Paul in Ephesians, we discover that work wasn't created as a punishment. It was part of God's good design for humanity.

We'll talk about why your work matters, the difference between a job and a calling, and why following Jesus doesn't mean dividing your life into spiritual and non-spiritual categories.

You don't have to be a pastor or missionary for your work to matter to God. Whether you're building houses, raising children, teaching students, managing a business, or working a job you don't love, God invites you to partner with Him right where you are.

You were created to make a difference.

Maybe it's time to stop dreading Monday and start discovering why your work matters.

  • Launch Sunday | Don't Try. Train.

What if the reason you're not growing spiritually ISN'T because you're just not trying hard enough?

Many Christians genuinely want to follow Jesus, overcome sin, and experience the full life He promised. But somewhere along the way, following Jesus can become an exhausting cycle of trying harder, falling short, and trying again.

    Jesus offers us something better.

In this message, Pastor Brent Parsley explores what it really means to be a disciple of Jesus. Drawing from Luke 9:23 and 1 Timothy 4:7–8, we'll discover why spiritual growth is less about trying harder and more about training ourselves to live the way Jesus lived.

We'll also look at why following Jesus requires surrender, daily practice, and a community of people who are growing together.

Following Jesus is not about our religious performance or our perfection. We're learning to becoming more like Him, one day at a time, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Recorded on Launch Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Promised Land Church in East Aurora, New York.

  • To the Promised Land | Living Devoted Lives | Brent Parsley

Part 4 of To the Promised Land

What does it really mean to live a life devoted to Jesus?

In Acts 2, the first Christians devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, communion, and prayer. They reordered their lives around Jesus.

In this message, Pastor Brent Parsley explores why devotion is more than emotion or spiritual intensity. It is consistent allegiance: choosing Jesus again and again, being devoted to His Church and His people, and joining what God is doing in the world.

As Promised Land Church prepares for a new season, this message is a call to become the kind of people who are fully devoted to Jesus, devoted to one another, and devoted to His mission.

  • To the Promised Land | How to Make Real Friends | Brent Parsley

Part 3 of To the Promised Land

Most people want good friends. Far fewer of us know how to actually build them.

In this message, Pastor Brent Parsley explores what the Bible says about real friendship and why meaningful relationships don’t happen automatically. Through Proverbs and the words of Jesus in John 15, we discover four characteristics of true friends: they stay, they know you, they tell you the truth, and they help you see what you can’t see on your own.

Along the way, we’ll talk practically about taking initiative, opening our circles, asking deeper questions, listening well, and becoming the kind of friend we wish we had.

We weren’t designed to follow Jesus alone. God often uses friendship to shape us into the people He is calling us to become.

  • To the Promised Land | On Mission With Jesus | Brent Parsley

Part 2 of To the Promised Land

What does it mean to live on mission with Jesus?

The Christian life is bigger than going to church on Sunday and then returning to “normal life.” God is at work in the world, and He invites ordinary people like us to participate in His mission.

In this message, Pastor Brent Parsley explores the mission of God and Jesus’ words in Matthew 5 about being the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We’ll discover how Christians can bring healing, preserve what is good, point people toward Jesus, and live with purpose in the places God has already put us.

The Church gathers together, but then the Church is sent.

God meets us here. And God sends us from here.

  • To the Promised Land | For the Next Generation | Brent Parsley

Part 1 of To the Promised Land

Why are so many young people struggling to carry their faith into adulthood, and what can we do about it?

Every generation has worried about the generation coming behind it. As followers of Jesus, we won't criticized the next generation. We're going to invest in them.

In this message, Brent Parsley talks about what it means to raise resilient disciples, young people who know Jesus, trust Scripture, love the Church, and live out their faith. From praying intentionally and prioritizing Christian community to modeling authentic faith and personally investing in younger people, every Christian has a role in the handoff.

Psalm 78 says, “We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord.”

This is Part 1 of To the Promised Land, a series about the kind of church Promised Land Church is becoming as we prepare for Launch Sunday.

  • This Must be Stronger than That | Friendship > Isolation | Brent Parsley

Part 4 of This Must be Stronger than That

Can you really follow Jesus by yourself?

We live in a culture that values independence, yet more and more people are experiencing loneliness, isolation, and shallow relationships. The New Testament paints a very different picture of the Christian life: following Jesus means learning to love, forgive, encourage, serve, and walk alongside other people.

In this message, Pastor Brent Parsley explores why community is essential to spiritual formation, how our friendships shape who we become, and the choices we can make to strengthen important relationships, heal broken ones, leave harmful ones, and begin building real friendships.

You were never meant to follow Jesus alone.

  • This Must be Stronger than That | Fasting > Appetites | Brent Parsley

Part 3 of This Must be Stronger than That

Why do Christians fast, and what does going without food actually have to do with following Jesus?

We all have appetites: for food, comfort, pleasure, approval, control, entertainment, and success. Many of those desires are good. But good desires can become disordered desires, and eventually the things we enjoy can become things that master us.

In this message, Pastor Brent Parsley explores the biblical practice of fasting and how it helps reorder our desires, deepen our dependence on God, intensify our prayer, seek direction, and develop greater hunger for God.

Fasting isn't about punishing your body or convincing a reluctant God to act. It's an embodied spiritual practice through which we learn an essential truth:

I can desire something without being ruled by that desire.

Because the goal of the Christian life isn't to stop wanting. It's to learn to want rightly.

  • This Must be Stronger than That | Worship > Consumption | Brent Parsley

Part 2 of This Must be Stronger than That

(There's a little audio trouble in the first 10 minutes)

How should Christians worship God? We sometimes make worship about how we feel instead of the worth of the One we're worshiping.

In this message, Pastor Brent Parsley looks at the biblical contrast between approaching church as a consumer and approaching God as a priest. Through Scripture and the story of Mary of Bethany pouring expensive perfume at the feet of Jesus, we discover worship that is purposeful, personal, passionate, and costly.

We'll explore why the Bible includes physical expressions such as lifting hands, kneeling, singing, clapping, and shouting and why worship doesn't have to wait until we “feel it.”

Extravagant worship begins with recognizing the incomparable worth of Jesus.

  • This Must be Stronger than That | Prayer > Self Reliance | Brent Parsley

Part 1 of This Must be Stronger than That

How do you pray when you don’t know what to say?

Prayer can feel complicated or even boring, but it doesn't have to be that way. Prayer is simply learning to live your life with God.

In part one of This Must Be Stronger Than That, Pastor Brent Parsley explores why prayer must become stronger than self-reliance and gives practical tools for developing a prayer life you can actually sustain. Learn how to establish a priority, place, and plan for prayer and explore simple frameworks including the Lord’s Prayer, PRAY, ACTS, praying the Psalms, and the Prayer of Examen.

You don’t need a complicated formula. God invites you to come simply, honestly, and consistently and ultimately to come for relationship with Him.
