In honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Month, Diversity Dialogues is honored to present the Hon. Shahabuddeen Ally a native of Guyana and the first Muslim man elected to the bench in New York State.

An unabashed believer in the American Dream, Judge Ally grew up in a one-bedroom South Bronx apartment that housed as many as 13 people. Compared to the life they left behind in Guyana, it was paradise.
