Propelling: Advancing African Enterprise One Drone at Time with Hanno Truter of Microdrones

Africa is a massive continent home to hundreds of countries exporting goods — in a variety of industries — across the continent and the globe. But there is something Africa is missing: drone legislation. According to Microdrones Sales Manager Hanno Truter, a lack of official drone regulations is a major hurdle for companies, African and foreign, when attempting to adopt commercial drone technology there.

“Only 28 percent of African countries have official regulations in place which govern the use of drones,“ Truter said. In this episode of Propelling we take a look at the types of industries that could benefit from better drone regulations and how companies can get involved with the fledgling drone enterprise in Africa.

"Hopefully it can be much more regulated, and obviously [I hope] the aviation bodies work on legislations in each and every country to grow the business of drones because that's where the future is headed," Truter said.
