Some production notes, by George Solar:

as a dj who spends most of his summers spinning boss music for sunsets on the balearic islands of ibiza & formentera, i am mostly expected to deliver more of that uberhappy lightweight lounge stuff that seems to be so popular in that area in particular.

fact is, the vibe planet i'm from really seems to gravitate in another universe. i like it deeper, slower, dubbier, even more athmospheric, sometimes sortalike majestic, and a bit melancholic at times. i always did.

plus: more than delivering a tight beat mix, i prefer to create a sort of audio book that rather tells a story to those who really listen - as opposed to mixing that same ol' bpm for hours & hours. in my humble opinion, that has to do a lot also with paying respect to the vibe of each original song used, giving it the time & space it has deserved. hosting a weekly radio show has taught me a lot in that sense… because there actually ARE people out there who really listen.

this time around, i chose to exclusively include a bunch of tunes from my camp, and with the exception of 2 songs i had my dubby fingers involved in all of them one way or another. half of these tracks are as of yet unreleased - quite a lot of preview on upcoming goodness by close friends & dear projects of mine... in the mix.

highlighting a.o. the forthcoming "sun salutation - dubs & remixes" album by my solar moon partner razoof as well as the amazingly beautiful music of sax player ismael diallo aka circles & spirals (who i had the pleasure to gig with on the balears many a times).

as usual, washington dc based love poet JEN contributed her one-in-a-million voice for some IDs here & there.

and as if that wasn't good enough already, i have also included a tune off JEN's upcoming EP (here w/ the chin chillaz) earlier on in the mix as well as a sneak preview on her album (coming in autumn) as a closer… this time accompanied by the ridiculously gifted senor federico aubele on guitar & most amazing production.
