In 1 Samuel 21, David is desperate and on the run, and instead of seeking the Lord, he relies on his own plan. God still provides food and a weapon, not because David planned well, but because God is merciful. This passage challenges us to examine how often we try to save ourselves, and how easily we can treat holy things as tools instead of gifts meant to draw us to worship. God provides, even in our weakness, but He calls us to repentance, reverence, and deeper trust in Him.
