This passage shows a powerful contrast between loyalty to people and loyalty to God. Jonathan had every reason to protect his family’s throne, but instead, he chose God’s plan, even when it cost him. This message reminds us that God’s Kingdom is built on covenant, not convenience. Sometimes following God means letting go of status, approval, or comfort so His purposes can move forward.
The question for all of us is simple: When obedience to God costs something, will we still choose Him?
