Protecting Hoosiers From Surprise Ambulance Bills

According to a study from the Public Interest Research Group, more than 3 million privately insured Americans are transported by ambulance to an emergency room annually, over half of whom receive a surprise bill because they didn't know the ambulance service provider was not covered by their insurance plan. Legislation authored by State Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) and co-authored by State Rep. Craig Snow (R-Warsaw) is aimed at protecting Hoosiers from surprise billing by requiring health insurance companies to reimburse individuals for out-of-network ambulance services.
