I often find myself walking through this particular Downtown Los Angeles Park around noon where the sun directly hits. I know there is an official name for the park, but I can never remember it. Everyone I know just calls it “Protest Park”. It’s the middle of March where in Los Angeles the temperature is warm and then cools once the sun starts hiding behind the buildings. As I enter the park through the northwestern entrance, I have an overview of the space and admire at the purple Jacaranda petals that blanket the ground. I like to sit on the benches underneath the trees and let my mind escape into the sky.

His artwork examines the relationship between humanity and the natural world, reflecting on how we intervene in the environment, imposing order and artifice, and how time will mark itself on the urban fabric. Andrade’s open-ended practice includes the use of a variety of mediums, ranging from drawing, photography, digital fabrication to sound, and are shown in various formats, including installations, public interventions and collaborations. Currently my mortgage is 1 month delinquent and soon it will be two months delinquent.  In February 2023 I was unexpectedly laid off at a Landscape Architecture Firm. It was devastating. My wife and I discussed our options and we decided to launch HAPS Agency and pursue my passion for architectural photography and filmmaking. While setting up the Agency we used our savings to incorporate, purchase the required photography equipment, software, insurance, website, and bills. I have been drafting and designing landscape design simultaneously to support our family and because I still love that work. I am blessed that HAPS has wonderful clients and a steady revenue stream. However, the duration that it took us to get here has put us at a deficit. I’m asking my community to collectively help us acquire enough for 1 month’s mortgage so I can get a good night’s sleep without waking up fearing of losing our house that we worked so hard for. If you know me personally you know that when you are sick I’m the first one to visit you in the hospital, when you need financial support I’m the first one to donate, when you have no one to talk to, I’m there. This is a humbling and embarrassing situation to be in, but I can not let pride threaten everything we worked for especially since we are so close to homeostasis. I have been a relentless advocate for the Landscape Architecture community since 2015 and hope it can be returned in kind.
