I’m sure you know that one of my favorite books in the Bible is the book of Proverbs. Thirty-one chapters – one for every day of the month. Read it every month and you’ll be a successful Christian in the power of Jesus Christ.

I know someone whose favorite Bible verses in Proverbs are chapter 3, verses 5 and 6 which say, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” As Charles Spurgeon, a historical figure and great Christian pastor said, this passage can be broken down into three commands, with one promise.

First, trust in the Lord. That’s a command. Don’t just trust when things are going well. What good is that? You can trust the Lord all the time.  He will never let you down.  Two – do not rely on your own understanding. You know, the older I get, the more I realize how little I really know. We always think we’re so smart, but the Bible holds the Truth we need. The third command is – consider God in all of your ways. Let Him be the guide of every step you take in your life. 

The promise God delivers in this passage is simple: He will guide you along the best paths. He knows the way, and you can follow Him confidently. If you do these three things, you’re sure to be on the right track. This is Luis Palau.
