(2 Chronicles 1:10) Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
(Proverbs 8:1-5) Listen as Wisdom calls out! Hear as understanding raises her voice! On the hilltop along the road, she takes her stand at the crossroads. By the gates at the entrance to the town, on the road leading in, she cries aloud, “I call to you, to all of you! I raise my voice to all people. You simple people, use good judgment. You foolish people, show some understanding.”
Title of message: Find Wisdom Find Life
(Proverbs 4:23) Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
(Proverbs 4:23) (GNT) Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.
Thoughts that lead to an affair:
1. I deserve to be happy
2. I need another person to make me happy
3. I married the wrong person so I deserve to start over
4. I’m not good at marriage so I want out
12 Steps to an affair.
1. You lean away from your marriage.
2. You notice someone else.
3. You take innocent meetings too far.
4. You replace innocent meetings with intentional meetings.
5. You try hard to set up purposeful conversations with the person.
6. You change the conversation to feelings.
7. You have isolated meetings with this person.
8. You have isolated meetings for pleasure.
9. Your embraces become affectionate and playful.
10. Your embraces become passionate.
11. You commit adultery.
12. The affair is made public.
Sin will take you farther than you want to go and cost you more than you are willing to pay.
(Proverbs 5:7-14) (MSG) So, my friend, listen closely; don't treat my words casually. Keep your distance from such a woman; absolutely stay out of her neighborhood.
(Proverbs 5:7-14) (MSG) You don't want to squander your wonderful life, to waste your precious life among the hardhearted. Why should you allow strangers to take advantage of you? Why be exploited by those who care nothing for you?
(Proverbs 5:7-14) (MSG) You don't want to end your life full of regrets, nothing but sin and bones, Saying, "Oh, why didn't I do what they told me? Why did I reject a disciplined life? Why didn't I listen to my mentors, or take my teachers seriously? My life is ruined! I haven't one blessed thing to show for my life!"
Sin grows in the dark. Sin dies in the light.
(Daniel 11:35) And some of the wise will fall victim to persecution. In this way, they will be refined and cleansed and made pure until the time of the end, for the appointed time is still to come.
(Proverbs 5:15-17) Drink water from your own well—share your love only with your wife. Why spill the water of your springs in the streets, having sex with just anyone? You should reserve it for yourselves. Never share it with strangers.
(Proverbs 5:18-20) Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth. She is a loving deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts satisfy you always. May you always be captivated by her love. Why be captivated, my son, by an immoral woman, or fondle the breasts of a promiscuous woman?
What captivates you?
How to affair proof your marriage:
1. Pray together
2. Date each other
3. Talk openly about sexual temptations
4. Stay accountable
5. Praise one another
(Proverbs 8:32-33) (NLT) “And so, my children, listen to me, for all who follow my ways are joyful. Listen to my instruction and be wise. Don’t ignore it.
(Proverbs 8:34-36) (NLT) Joyful are those who listen to me, watching for me daily at my gates, waiting for me outside my home! For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord. But those who miss me injure themselves. All who hate me love death.”
