Proverbs provides practical wisdom on how to live in God’s will by following the wise rules of our Creator. Proverbs is about our life and life expressions to those around us, so we may have wisdom. We learn that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (1:7, 9:10).

In Hebrew, the word wisdom is "Chokmah" which means practical wisdom or what we call "life skills" in God's perspective. A proverb is a general truth, we cannot take it as a promise of God. The book is the accumulated wisdom of mankind through the ages put together by King Solomon (About 1000 BC).
