We’re more than just the sum of our parts.”   What do you think is the one thing all humans need in their life? You may be thinking of tangible things like water, food, or money. Maybe your brain goes towards things like love, meaning, or purpose. All very good things, but will a lack of one of these things for a period of time alter our mind and even our body’s psyche? In the late 90’s & early 00’s, a study was done in Romania when there were thousands of children found in impoverished institutions. Psychologists eventually discovered that children left alone with little to no touch had more problems, emotionally and physically, throughout the rest of their development.   I always knew in the back of my mind that I wanted to help people.”   Beth Villante didn’t grow up in a picture perfect world. When she was 18 her mother and father went through a tough divorce. Her mother took a turn with depression and this placed Beth in a new role as her caregiver, no longer a student. As time went on, Beth and her mom went through their ups and downs. 11 years ago it seemed as though Beth’s mother was in a good place, until her son, and Beth’s brother, died from a drug overdose. Beth, again, became her mother’s caregiver.   Don’t believe what other people say about you.”   [caption id="attachment_2023" align="alignright" width="300"] Beth and her mother[/caption] Although Beth has faced many hardships, in the depths she has found her calling. She has found purpose and peace in bringing more holistic healthcare to the general public. She finds a thrill in researching and educating others about the power of touch medicine.
