The doctrine of election is a pride crusher. The doctrine of election presents us with the mighty will of God, and we must either kneel and accept that God is king and does what He wants, or we must attempt to reduce His right to do with creation whatever He pleases. Ultimately the doctrine of election is explained and illuminated by the doctrine of total inability, but there is only so much time. I hope this settles the issue for you, but my guess is that it won't. But ultimately, the doctrine of election is not a bitter medicine to swallow begrudgingly. The doctrine of election is a sweet and glorious message that exalts God and heightens our thankfulness and combats our pride.
