A psalm of one afflicted is probably by David, speaking at the time of his terrible illness and affliction, looking forward as a prophet to Israel’s glorious future. He speaks out of his illness and the affliction of those who hated him. He knows this has come on Him because of God’s wrath. Yet though He might end, God will continue and bring in His great, future flow of the kingdom. He will build up Zion, appear in glory, and answer the prayer of those like David, gathering all nations to serve Jehovah.
