Psalm 102:12-28

Have you ever used the phrase, “Well it’s as sure as the world.” I hear this phrase. “It’s just as sure as the world.” Well, nothing is more unsure than the world. Listen to Psalm 102 verse 25, “Of old Thou hast laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of Thy hands. They shall perish.” As sure as the world, they shall perish. Jesus said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away. My words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35; Mark 13:31; Luke 21:33). “They shall perish, but Thou shalt endure.” As sure as the world. What is the surest thing in your life? On what are you building your life? You better be building it on the Lord. He’s the only One who is sure. To begin with, He is the same. Verse 27, “Thou art the same, Thy years shall have no end.”

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. God has made this universe and everything around us look so certain. We are so sure of the way things work. We can send people from the earth to the moon. We have it all down to a fine science. That’s how accurate God’s universe is. But you know, the Word of God says all of this is going to change. All of this is going to perish. God is going to roll all of the universe up like an old garment and He’s going to just change the universe the way you change clothes. “They shall be changed: but Thou art the same.” Now what should we do because we are living in a world that is not sure? Well, we should trust a God who is sure. We should pray to Him. Verse 17, “He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.”

We should trust His Word and praise Him. “This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people who shall be created shall praise the LORD.” Here we have prayer and praise going together. Now we’re living in a world that is not certain. It is not sure. It is not going to last forever, but God is going to last forever. God is changeless and God is eternal; therefore let’s build our lives on Him. Let’s pray to Him. The great God of creation is our Father. He hears our cries. He hears our praise. He helps us even today.
