Thank you for joining us! We’re in the first five verses of Psalm 103 today, a song of David entitled, “Bless the Lord, O My Soul” Let's read verses 1 through 5 together...
1. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,
3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
I’ve often wondered how we can really “bless the Lord.” After all, how can a frail, sinful human like me bless Him? It was fun to learn that "bless the Lord" means to delight God’s heart by expressing love and gratitude for all He is and all He does. We can all do that!
No matter the situation. No matter the difficulty. No matter the circumstance, as children of our Lord — and as His under-shepherds — we can say, "Bless the Lord." Let's delight God’s heart by expressing love and gratitude for all He is and all He does.
I encourage you to listen to Matt Redman's song, "10,000 Reasons", wherever you stream music. And, I’d encourage you to do so with intentionality. Sit back, close your eyes, and meditate on all the 10,000 x 10,000 reasons you have to bless the Lord today — to delight God’s heart by expressing love and gratitude for all He is and all He does.
Thank you for joining me this week. May you live deeply into your calling as His under-shepherd, and may you, "Bless the Lord, O your soul, and all that is within you."
