Psalms for Shepherds

Psalm 103 | Part 3: Psalms for Shepherds

Listen Later

Today we’re finishing up Psalm 103 of this song of David. We started two weeks ago with the first five verses of this “Bless the Lord, O my soul” song, and now we'll be going through the last four verses. Let's read together:

19 The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.

20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word!

21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will!

22 Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!

Just as David began this song, he ends it with “Bless the Lord, O my soul!” We can’t ignore David’s call to worship the Father or his reminder that God is sovereign.

After leading a personal and a national time of praise, the psalmist calls on all heavenly creatures — all those serving the Lord on High — to join with all the earth’s creatures.

So, let’s join them, fellow under-shepherd. Let’s join all of creation —from the angels and the heavenly hosts to the rocks and the boulders who will cry out — in praising our Lord, in blessing His holy name. In every situation, shepherd leader, let’s delight God’s heart by expressing love and gratitude for all He is and all that He does.

I pray Psalm 103 has blessed you as it has me. May you continue to live deeply into your calling, my friend.
