Psalm 104:27-30
Science tells us that our world is governed by what they call “natural law.” Well sometimes they forget that behind the law is the Law-giver. Behind creation is a Creator who is caring for His creation and caring for His people. We talk about a universe. Universe spelled u-n-i. That means one, a unity. What is it that gives unity to the universe? It’s the God who made it all. All of creation waits upon God and trusts God to supply what is needed. Psalm 104 verse 27, “These all wait upon Thee; that Thou mayest give them their food in due season. That which Thou givest them, they gather: Thou openest Thy hand, they are filled with good.”
You see God is the giving God. God gives and we gather. God provides and we take what He provides for us. God’s hand is a dependable hand. God takes care of His own. “I have been young and now I’m old,” said David. “I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his seed begging bread” (Psalm 37:25). God’s hand is a generous hand. He does not give carelessly. He does not give selfishly. He opens His hand and all of creation is filled with good. He’s the God who controls life and death. He’s the God of the changing seasons. He is the God who is in control of the whole world. Listen to what it says. “Thou hidest Thy face, they are troubled: Thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust. Thou sendest forth Thy Spirit, they are created: and Thou renewest the face of the earth.” He’s talking about the changing seasons.
The spring is so beautiful and the summer is so delightful. The autumn is so fruitful and then the winter comes and it seems so dismal. But the same God of the spring and the summer and the autumn is the God of the winter. And then He sends His Spirit and He brings that refreshing springtime again. He can do that for our lives. He can renew us. He can bring to us seasons of fruitfulness, seasons of sunshine. Let’s not worry about the seasons of life. The God who runs this universe can manage our lives in season forever.
