The Lord a Refuge and Defense

11 In the Lord I take refuge;

 How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain;

-          The title of this Psalm The Lord a Refuge and Defense

o   It is a matter of fact and declared accordingly

-          It was for the choir director

o   The choir director is the man in charge of praise

o   The man tasks with encouraging God’s people to rise to their feet and sign

o   The man tasks with organizing those who play instruments to harmonize

-          Even men appointed to lead the church may sometime have doubts

o   And this Psalm begins with doubt

-          In the Lord, I take refuge

o   That means David runs to the Lord for safety against wicked worldly men

o   It’s a personal decision for David to do so

o   It should become our personal decision as well

-          How can you say to my soul

o   Flee as a bird to your mountain

o   Birds don’t have to deal with the danger down here on earth (on  the ground)

o   They can just lift-off and fly above the dangerous animals and terrain

o   They do have other predators that fly but in large part they are free to flee

o   When God tells you or I or David to flee to His mountain for protection and safety

§  We too, might say, how can we flee as a bird

§  Don’t you see what is going on down here (almost as if God doesn’t know)
