Psalm 111 (and 112...) | Sam Jackson

Listen Later

In this message on Psalm 111 (and 112...), we explore the idea that we often want the benefits of God’s kingdom without truly knowing or submitting to the King. Using the metaphor of electricity—loving the power but resenting the provider—the sermon shows how Psalm 112’s picture of the “good life” can only flow from a right understanding of the God revealed in Psalm 111. Together, these paired psalms reveal a God who is great, majestic, holy, and awesome, yet also gracious, merciful, and faithful—both transcendent and immanent. This tension is ultimately resolved in Jesus, where God’s justice and mercy meet at the cross. The message calls us, at the start of a new year, to fear the Lord, ponder His works, delight in His commands, and extol Him with our whole hearts—because the true fruit of the kingdom is found not in chasing blessings, but in knowing and worshipping the King.
