Psalms for Shepherds

Psalm 112 | Part 2 | Psalms for Shepherds

Listen Later

Today, we are finishing our time in Psalm 112, so please join me in reading the last four verses of this psalm entitled, “The Righteous Will Never Be Moved.”

7 He is not afraid of bad news;

    his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.

8 His heart is steady; he will not be afraid,

    until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.

9 He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor;

    his righteousness endures forever;

    his horn is exalted in honor.

10 The wicked man sees it and is angry;

    he gnashes his teeth and melts away;

    the desire of the wicked will perish!

Psalm 112 has addressed it all, our relationship to our Lord, our relationship to material wealth, our relationship to circumstances, and our relationship to the wicked. In just 10 verses in the previous psalm (111), the psalmist laid the foundation of the importance of genuine praise of and obedience to the Father. And in just 10 verses in this psalm (112), the psalmist made clear the benefits — the blessings, we’ve also called them — the Father offers to those who love, follow, praise, worship, and obey Him.

No matter your age or where you shepherd — where you influence and impact the sheep the Father as entrusted to your care — these are the rewards for those who diligently seek Him.

May you live deeply into your calling this week.
