The LORD is portrayed as the good shepherd in vs. 1-4 and a gracious host in vs. 5-6.

Matthew 18:12-14; Luke 15:3-7 He went looking after every lost sheep
Isaiah 40:11 He carried the sheep in his bosom 

The shepherd protected and provided for his sheep.

The LORD is a gracious host unlike Simon in Luke 7:44-46
23:6 pursue- is a word that deals with a diligent chasing after another. Here it is goodness and mercy that pursue us.
