Psalm, Chapter 77

Comfort in Trouble from Recalling God’s Mighty Deeds.

For the choir director; [a]according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.

77 My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud;
My voice rises to God, and He will hear me.

-          Comfort in trouble from recalling God’s Might Deeds

o   There is an important lesson in this title

o   You can get comfort while in trouble

§  Here is how it works

§  From recalling God’s Mighty Deeds

§  The M in might and D is capitalized for emphasis

§  Remember what God has done in the past and it gives you confidence toward your future!

-          For the choir director

o   Which means it’s a song to be remembered and sang

-          According to Jeduthun

o   Praising or to praise

-          A Psalm of Asaph

o   Asaph means “collector or gatherer”

-          Let’s stitch it all together now

o   You can be comforted when you’re in trouble by recalling God’s Might Deeds so sing His song, praise Him until He comes to gather you!

-          Now in verse 1

-          My voice rises to God, and I will cry out loud

o   How about you and I?

o   Do you pray loud enough for God to hear you?

o   Does the description “cry out loud” apply to you?

-          My voice rises to God, and He will hear me

o   Asaph repeats the fact that his voice rises to God

o   Then he declares the result before it happens by faith

§  And He will hear  me!

o   How about you?

§  Do you have faith that God hears you?

2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord;
 In the night my hand was stretched out [b]without weariness;
My soul refused to be comforted.

 -          In the day of my trouble I sought the lord

o   Notice it was a specific day (timing was important)

o   When trouble came, then Asaph sought the Lord right away

o   This is the right place to run too first!

-          In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness
