* David isn’t talking about not sinning - he’s talking about not being ruled by sin.
* It’s the difference between being tempted or tormented.
* Tempted by sin means you feel it’s pull but you put up a fight.
* Tormented by sin means you’ve given up and surrendered to it as a way of life.
* Transgression is a temptation you act upon - it’s doing the thing you’re tempted to do.
* Iniquity is the sin in your heart - you may not have acted on it but if the opportunity arises you will.
* Isaiah 53:5 - “He was pierced for our transgression; He was bruised for our iniquity.
* Piercing is external.
* Bruising is internal.
* David was praying that he wouldn’t be dominated by the secret desire to sin.
* He’s getting to the root of transgression.
