* vs 4 - “I have no refuge”
* vs 5 - “You (God) are my refuge”
* David looked around and saw the reality that he had nobody he could trust.
* But he didn’t stay locked-up in that mindset.
* He didn’t allow a feeling of abandonment to define his mindset.
* He re-framed the situation by reminding himself that God was his refuge.
* This reveals a powerful principle -
* Staying faithful to God is about seeing your present reality but choosing to reframe it by focusing on God.
* You see the present but you focus on the Person.
* Here’s the simple pattern:
* 1) Reality - recognize the reality of your current situation.
* Don’t try to “think positive” and overlook the negative.
* This will result in bottled-up fear and anger and will eat away at you.
* 2) Re-frame - remind yourself of God’s role in your situation and life.
* He is your Father who will provide for and protect you.
* Psalms 143:5 - the best way to reframe is to simply REMEMBER God.
* When you do then you will proactively remind yourself of Who God is.
