* Look at Psalms 40:17 and Psalms 41:1 back to back.
* The first is talking about how poor and needy David was but how God took notice of him.
* The next verses talk about how happy the person is who considers the helpless.
* A helpless person is someone who can’t sustain themselves without outside assistance. (like the neighbor in the ditch in the Good Samaritan story)
* It also mentions how God will deliver him in time of trouble.
* David shows us the key to helping others is remembering how God helped you!
* vs 2-3 - God’s reward for those who help the helpless:
* He will protect them and give them life and a good reputation.
* He will also sustain them even on their sickbed.
* Being sick is the most helpless feeling - you have a germ inside you that you can do nothing about.
