I'm a 40-year-old father trying to understand and come to terms with how and why the Family Court of Australia, and some of the legal professionals who work in it, decided that I can no longer be in my 12-year-old son's life.
I was unrepresented during our Court proceedings and was forced to represent myself.
I have always been present in my son's life since he was born and have always tried my hardest to grow our relationship. I have other kids and have proven to be an excellent father.
The Court-appointed psychiatrist who did our psychiatric evaluations even wrote in her report that I was a capable, independent father who had no personality problems or traumas that would affect my ability to parent. The same couldn't be reported about my ex-partner, who returned 4 negative personality traits.
My son and I have been victimised by parental alienation over the years, and unfortunately, 2 of his mother's markedly high negative personality traits are often prevalent in parents who are pathological liars and parental alienators.
I've done some things wrong, but I've never been a bad father or dangerous, violent person. To say that a parent will treat their child the way they treated a partner through a turbulent separation, is a complete and utter fallacy.
The Court......... doesn't always get it right!

I wish things were different.
