Pt. 2 - THE TABLE OF FORGIVENESS

Listen Later

This sermon is about the danger of believing that our sin is not as serious as someone else’s and the way pride can blind us to our own need for forgiveness. In Luke 7, Jesus tells the story of two debtors who both owe what they cannot repay, showing that the real issue is not how big the debt appears, but that none of us can make ourselves right before God on our own.

It is about the difference between a heart that is confident in itself and a heart that is honest about its need for mercy. It confronts the quiet self-righteousness that can grow in us when we compare ourselves to others instead of looking honestly at our own sin.

It is also about the authority of Jesus to forgive sin and the life-changing reality that when He says, “Your sins are forgiven,” guilt is lifted, peace is given, and love begins to grow in the life of the one who understands how much they have been forgiven.
