24 Separate trauma incidents, along with countless health challenges, some life threatening, and Karen Bettison survived all of it. At the same time, her and her husband translated the Bible in remote areas of Africa, raised their biological and adopted children, dealt with political and tribal unrest. She ran a medical mission for the local people on top of it all.

Karen Bettison holds a BS in Bible and Nursing, an MS in Nursing Education, and has studied linguistics at the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics and Lincoln Christian Seminary. She served as a Bible Translator, Literacy Specialist, and Medical Missionary with Pioneer Bible Translators for 25 years, and currently works as a nurse at a major hospital in the US. She has been an educator, author, speaker, and Bible study leader in both the US and West Africa.
With her husband, Jim, she has raised four children. They currently reside in rural Missouri. She is dedicated to speaking truth, grace, and healing into the lives of people the Lord brings to cross her path.
