With nearly 24 million people—a little over 15% of the workforce— involved in military, public, and national service at the local, state, and federal levels, the public sector in the U.S. faces some unique challenges from a modernization standpoint. Constrained by regulations but tasked with some of the most critical services, there is no shortage of obstacles to implementing the necessary changes to keep pace with emerging threats as well as the demands of the citizens that these entities have sworn to serve.
