How to Pull Together When We’re Pulled Apart
1. Call on God for Help
Ps 55:12-13,16 (NLT) It is not an enemy who taunts me—I could bear that. It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me—I could have hidden from them. Instead, it is you—my equal, my companion and close friend….But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me.
James 4:2c (NLT)Yet you don't have what you want because you don't ask God for it.
2. Face the Conflict Head On
Matt 18:15-17 (NLT) "If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses. If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church.
3. Own My Part of the Conflict
Matt 7:3 (NLT) "And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own?
Col 3:13 (NLT) Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
4. Remove the Complications
5. Focus on the Relationship
James 3:17 (NLT) But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.
