Episode 15: Pumps Hummed, Voices Prayed
(Immersive Verse)
Intro
Can’t see the forest for the trees.
A nation nobbled to its knees.
Our civilization on the skids.
What will we tell the kids?
1
Bullies derided while innocents were hiding.
Teargas sprayed while limbs akimbo, splayed.
Pumps hummed and voices prayed,
Grown men groaned and hearty women wept.
A cacophony drone blended together and leapt
Through the roof, outside into the Epiphany sky.
Intro

2
A mob [pre-enraged] aggregated puppets to a stage
To hold at bay the turning of the page
And using weaponized old glories to induce
The seeing of stars, and to whip bloody stripes.
It unpacked whoop-ass: a full bouquet of pain.
With other flags waving God’s name in vain.
3
All the peacemakers called to order had been
Forsworn in order to hold the invisible line
Against any autocracy and any BIG LIE.
When suddenly, peacekeepers are spotted running
Through the glass; up and down the halls
Attempting, it seemed, to hold the visible keep.

4
That afternoon on the Feast of the Magi:
MAGA gathered outside to bring to bear their gifts of
Fool’s gold, cans of smoke; to spread bitter essence in
Chanting obscenities and seeming hell-bent on killing Jesus.
