Purposeful Suffering

Listen Later

Britt and Heather continue to study the Book of John chapters 9-12. We see Jesus heal the blind and then discuss the similarities between being physically blind as well as spiritually blind. Jesus directs this concept at the Pharisee's and Jewish leaders as being blind to the true ways of the kingdom of God versus the world, and what the world deems as being acceptable or believable. Jesus then shows us what it means to be a "Good Shepherd", one who protects, guides, and lays down his life in order to secure his flock.
Jesus goes on to the then do the unthinkable, He rises His best friend Lazarus from death, four days of death to be exact. This act proves to be the straw that breaks the camels back so to speak. Knowing His own fate, Jesus still does the impossible, that he knows will bring anger, division and plotting of his own death to glorify God. This is the main point of the story, suffering is meant to GLORIFY God. There is always purpose in the suffering.
