You need to have prayer all the time not just when you attend church. The first obstacle to overcome is to push the flesh away. Are you righteous? There needs to be a working in your soul that constantly pushes you to confess your sins unto God. There are some obstacles that we must overcome in order to pray.
As mentioned before the flesh must be put under subjection in order to pray. We must be humble before God. The flesh doesn’t like to be humble.
Mark 11; we must have faith. If you’re praying for rain you should go ahead and take your umbrella. We often times pray little prayers because we have little faith. God is a big God, therefore, pray big prayers.
James 4: stay focused. God gives you bread, clothing, and shelter. We should be looking to God for the things that are not for our flesh’s sake. Don’t pray for the lusts of the flesh. If every day was like Christmas then you would quickly grow tired of the gifts.
Luke 18; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: pray without stopping. Always in prayer.
Places of victory. In our life, we have places that we remember that brings back a thought of victory. Mount Carmel was a victory place for Elijah. We all need a place of victory. If you don’t have one, get one.
How do you pray? You should be sincere and humble yourself before God. Start your prayer with thanksgiving. His list of blessings and how good He is is ongoing. Once He is lifted up then you will be humbled down. Pray alone. The key to a prayer closet is that you are focused and alone with God. Corporate prayer is great and there is a need for it, but if you are not praying alone then you’re missing a key element to pray. Since your flesh doesn’t want to be humbled you will find that you’ll want to give up. Don’t! Sometimes when you pray you’ll find that it’s like a one-way communication. Don’t stop! Don’t give up!
The key to the message is to pray until something happens. P.U.S.H.; Pray Until Something Happens. Stay with it!
