Listen Later

Hello, listeners! Welcome back to Snooze Minute, your quick and honest podcast about movies, culture, and entertainment, and everything in between. Today, we’re diving into the long-awaited blockbuster Pushpa 2: The Rule. Not just me, but thousands of Allu Arjun fans were waiting to see his grand return on the big screen. Was it worth the hype? Is this movie a step above Pushpa: The Rise, or should you just rewatch the first one? Let’s break it all down.

First, a quick heads-up. If you haven’t watched Pushpa: The Rise, you might feel a bit disconnected from the sequel. Honestly, I made the mistake of skipping a rewatch before heading to the theater. The story relies heavily on the foundation set in the first movie. Without that context, the lengthy and sometimes slow first part of Pushpa 2 may feel underwhelming.

That being said, let’s talk about the killer opening of this movie! Pushpa’s grand entry had the audience cheering like crazy. The rope-involved fight sequences? Absolute genius! Director Sukumar has truly elevated the action choreography to a whole new level. These scenes are something we’ve never seen in Indian cinema before.

The movie clocks in at a hefty 3 hours and 15 minutes, and while the runtime might feel daunting, the second half redeems itself. The story initially struggles to pick up pace, especially with Fahadh Faasil’s SP Bhanwarlal taking his time to establish his role. But once the interval hits, the plot really starts to shine.

Pushpa’s unyielding spirit and his iconic line, “Zukega Nahi Sala,” set the tone for the challenges to come. Post-interval, the movie explodes with action, comedy, and drama. The climax is emotional, heart-wrenching, and leaves you hooked with a promise of more to come in Pushpa 3.
