Riesling is one of the six historical Noble Grapes, yet it is one of the most misunderstood. Great Riesling is not cloyingly sweet. It is balanced and nuanced with amazing acidity and very long aging potential. From bone-dry to wonderfully sweet, Riesling is rightfully a favorite of oenophiles all over the world.
To talk through what makes Riesling so special, VinoMike shared a 2010 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett. Although 11 years old, this stunning white offered up fresh fruit, a kiss of honey, and incredible balance. Still youthful, this wine is proof of the fact that Riesling can snuggle up in your cellar for a very long time!
