C. S. Lewis was a prolific Christian author that wrote 30 books that include "The Chronicles of Narnia". Lewis is also one of the most loved Christian thinker and is often quoted.
Today's quote really resonates with me. I have plenty of experience in many areas. I have learned many things and tried many things. I don't believe I have failed at any of the things that I have done. I've had business that have gone out of business for various reasons, but they didn't fail. I learned valuable lessons from each job, business or experience I was a part of.
I have been working in the the same industry and field, mortgage banking technology for many years. However, within the last couple of years I developed a love for and then a passion for Social Media Marketing. I have always had a passion for teaching, mentoring, public speaking and building communities. About a year and a half ago, I decided I wanted to change my career. I was over what I was doing. I wasn't enjoying what I did any more. I set a goal to either get a position in Social Media Marketing or Community Management or to start my own business in the field.
Now, the reason this quote resonates so much is I am over 50. I made a decision to make a MAJOR career change. A completely different field and potentially different industry. Plus, I was wanting to go into a field most commonly associated with Millennials not Boomers like me. But, I set my goal and started following my passion.
Last month, I was offered and accepted a position as an Internal Community Manager for the company I work for. The reason I was selected was because of my passion, my desire and the communities and following I had grown on social media.
