Definitions:

Collective unconscious- part of the human psyche that is shared by all people and is considered to be inherited from our ancestors, according to Jung. It is a deeper layer and contains archetypal patterns representing universal symbols and ideas not based on one’s own personal experiences. Study.com

Unconscious- a part of the psyche not readily available to conscious awareness. It contains repressed memories and personal experiences specific to an individual. Why UNconscious? Because it is not something we are readily aware of in our conscious waking life.

Subconscious- allows us to do things we don’t have to think about- like breathing. Another example is memory- pianists don’t have to look at the piano keys to know here the keys are.

Consciousness- “being aware that we are aware”. It is believed to be what separates us from other animals. Other animals can feel, but are they aware they can feel?

Collective conscious- a social concept that refers to the shared ideas, elders and knowledge that exists white a society. A unifying force that emerges from the interactions of Indic=visuals and is sustained by language, culture, and collective memory.
