HAPPY CANADA DAY!!

If you grew up in Canada and were anything like me, then you spent a lot of time in the 90s watching MuchMusic. If that is the case, then you would be very familiar with my guest this week, he is the ‘time keeper’ for Winnipeg based alt-rockers The Watchmen…..he is Sammy Kohn.

He is a solid groove master and lays down the foundation for his bandmates….and when he’s not doing that he’s working hard to help people find their dream homes in the GTA.

This was a wonderful chat with a very humble guy, it was such an honour to have Sammy on the podcast.

Enjoy the Quarter Notes podcast with Sammy Kohn!

#QuarterNotes #MattLynott #TheWhiteBuffalo

If you’ve ever sat down to watch “Sons of Anarchy” then chances are you’ve heard this weeks guest. Matt Lynott is the backbeat for the americana, folk-rock, dark blues sound of The White Buffalo.

Matt was in between tours and having some down time at his home in California when we sat down and chatted about his vintage gear, approach to music, and where he draws influence in his unique drumming style.

This was such a laid back and chill conversation. Matt is just like the music he plays - honest, real, and shoots from the heart.

Here we go again, back into The ConunDRUM, with one of my dearest and oldest friends, the big WOP himself…..Aaron Young!!

The term chosen family comes up now and again, and this guy has been my brother since the day we met while I was skateboarding in the Irving gas station parking lot. Just two young teenagers not having a clue as to what we were doing, we just knew we wanted more than the status quo, so we started to carve out our path towards music together.

This episode dives into Aaron’s timeline through music, life, and family.

Sit back, enjoy my long overdue one on one with my brother from another mother…Aaron Young

#QuarterNotes #DannyThompson #facetoface #TheMusicFactory

Here we go with another BIG episode!!

This week I got to sit down with Danny Thompson - the drummer from Face to Face, one of my favourite punk rock bands of all time!

Danny is not just your typical drummer, he is also a savvy businessman and the owner/co-founder of The Music Factory School of Music in Costa Mesa CA. He has held the drum throne for Face to Face since 2008 and has been a rock solid foundation for the band ever since day one.

Danny shares how his love of Elvis made him want to play music, his experiences recording drums and working with legendary drummer/producer Bill Stevenson at The Blasting Room, his own show called the “Highway 62 Podcast”, and a whole lot more.

“Hold Fast” and take a trip to 29 Palms and enjoy my conversation with Danny Thompson.

#QuarterNotes #JohnWright #DeadBob #NoMeansNo

This is a BIG ONE!!

For all you punk rock elites out there….my guest is one of Canada’s pioneer punk rock drummers…John Wright!

In 1979, John formed (with his brother Rob) one of the most iconic punk bands from the Canadian West coast…Nomeansno. Together they created a unique sound that continues to influence countless bands all over the globe (that’s right, it’s not flat). Not to be a one trick pony, John then took on the mantle of the ‘frontman’ for their side project, The Hanson Brothers.

After an extended break from playing music, John is back with his new project ‘DEAD BOB’, and it is a tour de force breaking through the norm of musical genres, nothing is off limits and his drumming is just as intense and inspiring as ever!

Sit back and poor yourself a cold one…get ready for the one and only - John Wright.

Welcome back!! This is an “Iron Giant” of an episode…see what I did there??

This is the return of the ConunDRUM with the final piece of my Which Witch is Which collection, my guest is none other than PJ Dunphy!!

I’ve got them all!!! Muahah-haha-ha-ha-haaaaaa!!!!!!!

PJ is one of the most respected individuals in the East Coast music scene. He’s been a part of some of the most influential and successful bands to come out of New Brunswick.

I’ve had the honour of sharing the stage with PJ a number of times (more to come), and he’s always been so supportive of all the bands and everyone that comes out to watch the show. He’s got so many amazing tales to tell, and he was so gracious to share a few with me on this episode.

Please enjoy my conversation with PJ Dunphy.
