We're throwing it back to the halcyon days of the Dark Ages this episode with Quest for Camelot, a 1998 movie that's ostensibly Arthurian but is Arthur-adjacent at best. What it lacks in animation finesse, songwriting, and jokes, it makes up for in spades with heart. There's a card joke there, but honestly, I'm not clever enough to make it. Spoiler guys: the girl holds the sword a lot in this one. Talking Points: The Middle Ages; Could America have fixed the Dark Ages?; punching fantasy creatures to death; the feudal system (in general); 12-year-old math class daydreams.
Every other week, grownups Zach and Elle look back at obscure, overlooked, and forgotten kids movies. Elle probably saw them as a child; Zach probably did not. Together, they get to the heart of what makes these films worth digging up or worth shoving to the back of your VHS cabinet.
